Description
Founded in 1806, The Portico Library is a Grade II listed building and one of Manchester’s oldest subscription libraries. Nestled above a pub on Mosley Street, it houses over 25,000 books, including rare 19th-century volumes, and hosts rotating exhibitions, talks, and literary events.
More than just a library, The Portico is a welcoming community space where readers, writers, artists, and curious minds come together. Whether you're browsing the collection, attending a workshop, or enjoying a coffee under the glass dome, it’s a place where conversations spark and connections are made. A cafe is also available on site.
